Banooba + Sam Kininger band = sick party!!!! - March 6, 2006

Congrats to those of you that were lucky enough to witness the madness that went on in St. Croix in Feb. We shared the bill at Club 54 with The Sam Kininger Band, one of the most slammin' bands around. Their line up for that tour was Sam Kininger (Sax), Nikki Glaspie (drums), Aaron Bellamy (bass), and last but not least Amy Bowles (Keys).

Kevin T got the honor to sit in one of their tunes "NY No. 1". Those weren't the only sit ins. The late, late, late night jams were the highlights of the musical madness. At one point people were switching up instruments. Nikki Glaspie was playing guitar and singing a Neptunes song at one point with Aaron on bass, our very own Pete Cunningham on drums, Kevin T on Guitar backing her up. At some other point Aaron Bellamy was on guitar and singing a Hendrix tune (I can't remember which one it was... partying to hard) with Vinny on guitar, Pete on Drums, Nikki on bass. We also got to jam out on John Scofield's "Hottentot."

Long story short this was a slammin weekdend.

Dave Mackie's going away party @ DA FUNKY PHISH!! Friday Jan 20th!! - January 9, 2006

Everyone come out and celebrate the incredible role that Dave Mackie has played as the guitarist for Banooba. Sadly, this will be Dave's last show with Banooba (until we kidnap him for the occassional gig).

The party is on!! Friday, Jan 20th @ Da Funky Phish!

Dave,

We would like to thank you for the huge contributions that you have made to Banooba. Thank you for taking on the huge task of learning 25+ songs in about 2 weeks so we can pay tribute to Kevin Kershko in St. Croix. Thank you for making us realize that we have to continue playing the songs that we wrote with Kershko and not let them be forgotten. Thank you for writing the music for "Make Me Belive," one of the best Banooba songs that we have ever written. Thank you for designing such a kick ass cd cover for "Banooba's Travels." We can keep going but you'll probably get bored if we mentioned everything you've done that we are grateful for. We have definitely had our share of great times with you, both on and off stage. It was our pleasure to share the stage with you.

Enough of all the sappy stuff and let's send you off with a sick party at Da Funky Phish this Friday.

Later on,

Kevin T., Sloan, Pete and Ryan

New Years Eve show in St. Croix - December 19, 2005

2005 has been one crazy year for Banooba. It has been filled with many ups and downs. From playing the Band Shell at Jones Beach; to St. Patty's Day in St. Croix; to jamming with Sam Kininger and Aaron Bellamy at O'dwyer's; to losing our friend/guitarist/brother Kevin Kershko, and to you our fans, friends and family helping us through the difficult time. Thank you for sharing an incredible year with us.

We plan on making 2006 an even better year for us and you guys. What better way is there to bring it in than by playing New Years Eve in the St. Croix in the Caribbean. We will be playing New Year's Eve at Club 54 with local great, Kurt Schindler sharing the bill with us. Unfortunately Dave Mackie will not be able to make it down this trip , but have no fear. Vinny Raniolo will be filling in for Dave. Thank you Vinny for helping us out.

Ladies And Gentlemen, your attention please. - July 14, 2005

Please welcome Dave Mackie as the newest member of Banooba.

You might be saying to yourselves, wow that name sounds familiar. That's probably because you've seen his name in the liner notes of "Banooba's Travels". Dave Mackie created all the artwork for the album. Not only is he a great guitarist, he's also an accomplished artist.

Sam Kininger (SOULIVE, LETTUCE) Jams with Banooba @ E. O'Dwyers on 7/2/05 - July 5, 2005

Banooba had the pleasure of having saxaphone great, Sam Kininger sit in on a few tunes @ E. O'Dwyers last Saturday 7/2/05. He played on:
  • Just Kissed My Baby (The Meters)
  • Sinora (Banooba)-> You Can Call Me Al (Paul Simon)-> Bake and Eat (Cousin Fungus)
  • Cissy Strut (The Meters)
  • No Anesthesia (Banooba)
  • A Go Go (John Scofield)

Also sitting in was basist Aaron Bellamy (Sam Kininger Band). He Played on:
  • Whipping Post (The Allman Brothers)
That turned out to be a crazy jam. For you music heads out there, we added a hip-hop funk groove to Whipping Post. Instead of playing it in 6/8 we played it in 4/4. I wish we had that version on tape. If anyone recorded the show, let us know.

See you at Jones Beach.
